Eco-Home Design

Las Olas is committed to ecological energy conservation. The windows and doors in each home are strategically located to achieve maximum cross ventilation. Green roofing systems reduce storm water runoff and regulate indoor temperature. Gray water recycling systems store and provide water for the yard and surrounding landscape. Options for each home will include photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors to provide energy and hot water. Low flush toilets and energy-efficient appliances will be standard.

Sustainable living is a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual or society’s use of the Earth’s natural resources and hisher own resources. Through instituting energy-efficient measures, leaving over 50% of the property in its natural state, developing farmland to provide fruits and vegetables, maintaining livestock for community consumption and being conscious of our own individual consumption,  Las Olas strives for maximum sustainability in each community.

Home Design Principles

•       Use the environment to cool houses (airflow maximization, use of ceiling fans, and clerestory windows)
•       Take advantage of the environment to reduce indoor space by building larger covered outdoor space
•       Maximize views (living room and master bedroom)
•       Open concept to increase light and airflow
•       Design carlesspocket communities
•       Keep homes to one floor above maximum grade
•       Reduce the size and use of garages
